YOU ARE MINE
Isaiah 43:1-28
I. I Have Redeemed You (vs. 1-21)
a. What three reasons does the Lord offer in verse 1 as a reassurance to His
people Israel?
b. How far will the Lord go in protecting and preserving His people?
c. Verse 2-21 offer many clues to the relationship God desires to have with
His people Israel. List some of the terms that show a very personal God
Who is actively involved with His people.
d. What terms of endearment does God use to describe His chosen people?
e. Verses 5-7 reveal a prophetic even of God calling His people from the
east, west, north, and south. This was imperfectly completed with Cyrus’
decree to permit the Jews to return to their land. When will it be perfectly
accomplished?
f. What other events will accompany Israel recognizing her Messiah?
II. Unfaithful Israel (vs. 22-28)
a. Verse 22 brings the cold slap of reality returning the reader to the present
plight of Jacob and Israel. What is that reality?
b. What are God’s people not doing that God has indeed noticed?
c. What purpose does verse 25 serve in the midst of listing Israel’s failures?
Application: God is not done with His chosen people, Israel. Paul points out that their spiritual blindness has allowed the Gentiles to receive salvation, but that the day will come that “all Israel will be saved.” (Romans 11:26) If God chastens His people, Israel, whom He has chosen for Himself, and (as this chapter points out) loves. Will He not chasten Christians also if we walk contrary to His Word and will?
