WOE TO YOU PHARISEES AND LAWYERS
Luke 11:37-54
- Woe: You clean the Outside but not the Inside (vs. 37-41)
a. What prompts Jesus to speak these woes to the Pharisees and lawyers?
b. The first example Jesus states in verse 39 pertains to cups / dishes…is it really about washing cups and dishes?
c. What did Jesus state the Pharisees were focused on?
d. Would the Pharisees be made clean by an outward action or was Jesus describing something deeper?

a. What proof does Jesus cite that reveal the Pharisees etc approved their fathers murdering the prophets?
b. From Abel – Zechariah in the Hebrew Bible is encompassed all the Old Testament prophets…what became of them?
c. Verse 52 likely reveals the greatest offense toward God…what is it?
d. How do the scribes, lawyers, and Pharisees take Jesus’ exhortations?
Application: What happens when we major on the minor, see others sins as worse than our own, and get in the way of people hearing God’s word so that they can come to Him in faith?
