Genesis 3:1-24


I. The Serpent (vs. 1-6)

     a. What characteristic is mentioned about the serpent, and was it meant in a good way? 

 

     b. What question does the serpent pose to the woman (Eve)? 

 

     c. Why would he ask the question in the way he did? 

 

     d. Is there any problems with how she answers? (Genesis 2:17)

 

     e. Was the serpent’s (Satan’s) statement in verse 4 truth or a lie? 

 

     f. The temptation the serpent put forth follows a pattern we also see in 1 John 2:16. What is the connection?   

 

II. Consequences of Sin (vs. 7-19)

     a. After eating the fruit what was the first indication something had changed? 

 

     b. What do Adam and Eve do when they hear God in the garden?

 

     c. When God asked, “where are you?” did He already know? 

 

     d. Who is the first to receive consequences? 

Summarize what the curses were.

 

     e. Who gets curses next? 

Summarize the consequences. 

 

     f. Finally, who gets the curses last?

Summarize these curses. 


 

III. Out of the Garden (vs. 20-24)

     a. When Adam names Eve which in Hebrew is (khava-vaw’ = life) …what is significant about her? 

 

     b. How does God cover Adam and Eve and what did this covering require? 
How does this show God’s grace?

 

     c. Why does God drive Adam and Eve out of the garden? 

 

     d.  How did God make sure they could not come back to the garden? 

 

 

Application: Since the fall to sin in the garden, has human nature changed?
