Acts 14:7-20
I. Mistaken Identity??? (vs. 7-13)
a. Why had Paul and Barnabas come to Lystra when they did? (vs. 5-6)
b. What was one of Paul’s first actions in Lystra?
c. In other places people responded to miraculous signs by praising God.
What do they do in Lystra?
d. Who do people of Lystra assume have come to them, and what do
they attempt to do?
II. Pagans being Pagans (vs. 13-18)
a. Were the pagan priests on board with worshiping Paul and Barnabas?
b. What were the priest prepared to do?
c. Why would Paul and Barnabas be so adamant that the people NOT
worship them?
d. How is Paul’s sermon different speaking to a Gentile audience, than
what he had preached to Jewish audiences on this missionary journey?
e. How effective was Paul at convincing the people to NOT sacrifice to
them?
III. No Good Deed Goes Unpunished (vs. 16-20)
a. Why did the crowds turn on Paul and Barnabas?
b. Why do you think the Jews hounded Paul and Barnabas from city to
city?
c. What do the Jews incite the multitude to do?
d. What is surprising about what Paul does after he “rose up?”
e. Are Paul and Barnabas in a hurry to leave Lystra?
IV. Application: How committed to the Lord and His Gospel does one need
to be to preach and endure extreme persecution, even to the point of death?
