- John the Baptist (vs. 24-26)
a. What prompts Jesus to begin speaking about John the Baptist to the multitudes? (vs. 18-23)
*Where is John as Jesus is talking about him?
b. Jesus asks three rhetorical questions, “what did you go out to see…?” What about these questions shows us He already knew the answers to His own questions?
c. What do you suppose the “reed shaken by the wind” is a reference to?
d. What was the reference to “soft garments” a reference to?
e. How does Jesus offer of “a prophet” show that John was that and so much more?
f. Is it fair to state John was not a man pleaser, self-indulgent, or seeking popularity, position, or fame?

b. Jesus quotes Isaiah 40:3, and Malachi 3:1 in referencing John. What other Old Testament prophets were themselves prophesied?
c. How is John’s ministry described in these prophecies?
