Isaiah 44:1-28
I. Blessing (vs. 1-5)
a. What words of comfort do we find for God’s people in verses 1-2?
b. Beyond comforting His people, how sill He bless them?
c. Contrasting the rebelliousness of God’s people in Isaiah’s day with
what we see in verse 5, what is the only thing that can affect this kind
of transformation?
II. God Verses Idols (vs. 6-20)
a. Who is in view in verse 6, and what does He declare?
b. Who is the only One to declare the end from the beginning and to
set in order all things?
c. Is there any other God?
d. What benefit can one derive from an Idol?
e. In pointing out the senselessness of idolatry, we are told that the
would be idolater uses parts of the tree for different purposes. What
were they?
f. From the various purposes the wood is used, what should be obvious
to the idolater?
g. What is revealed about the idolater in verse 20 that explains his error?
III. The Lord Your Redeemer (vs. 21-28)
a. What sin specifically, is the Lord blotting out, considering the context
of this passage?
b. In what personal ways does God reach for and appeal to His people?
c. Why would Judah need to hear a message of hope and restoration
before Babylon has even destroyed Jerusalem and carried the Jews into
exile?
d. Cyrus is mentioned by name here. What role would he play in Judah’s
consolation?
Application: Trust place in anything or anyone besides God is misplaced!
God was going to allow Judah to suffer for a season, but to what end?
