HIM WHO IS POOR AND CONTRITE
Isaiah 66:1-24
I. Heaven is My Throne (vs.1-4)
a. He is God! What can Israel build, do or attempt that positively makes
God take notice?
b. Of whom does God take notice?
c. Verses 3-4 describe those bent on pagan/idolatrous worship. Is anything
they do acceptable to God?
d. What are these people guilty of doing?
II. You Shall be Comforted in Jerusalem (vs. 5-13)
a. The Lord assures those who are faithful and pronounces judgment on His
enemies. Is it surprising that those who hate God, also hate His people?
b. The difficulty that Israel will endure is likened to childbirth. What comes
at the end of labor?
c. What blessings are promised to the faithful of Israel?
d. What similarity do we see in the “peace like a river” and Jesus’ promise
in John 14:27
III. He Will Judge (vs. 14-24)
a. “The hand of the Lord shall be known to His servants, and His indignation
to His enemies.” How will this play out?
b. How will verses 15-16 be fulfilled in Revelation 19:21?
c. During the Millennium, who will come to Jerusalem to worship?
d. What offering will the Gentiles bring that will be acceptable to the Lord?
e. What reminder does this passage say will be evident of those who rebel
against God?
Application:
This passage holds promise for Jews and Gentiles alike. Where will we be engaged in one purpose and one action, and what will it be?
