Genesis 1:20-31
I. Day 5 (vs. 20-23)
a. What does God create on Day 5?
b. Did God create just a few of each or does it sound like He created them in great abundance from the start?
c. What command does God also give to the sea creatures and birds of the air?
d. What is significant about the phrase “according to their kind and according to its kind” in verse 21?
e. What was God’s assessment of His creation at the end of Day 5?
II. Day 6 (vs. 24-26)
a. How does God start Day 6?
b. How many times do we see the phrase “according to its kind” in verses 24-25?
What might the Lord have been telling us from the beginning if we just listen?
c. Not done yet, what else does God create on day 6?
d. The creation of mankind given here in summary will be expounded on in Genesis chapter 2. But (verse 26) what is special about mankind?
e. How do we see a reference to the trinity in verse 26?
f. What role was mankind to play over the creation which God had placed him?
III. Image Bearers (vs. 27-31)
a. Who does this passage indicate are the image bearers of God? Male or female?
b. What commands are given to mankind in verse 28?
c. What was everything eating in those days?
d. What was God’s evaluation of His creation upon completion of the 6th day?
Application: How should being image bearers of God both inspire us to be the best we can be and treat others with dignity?
