To Be Equipped ~ Ephesians 4:11-16


I.   God Given Servant Leaders (vs. 11)

a.  Who does this passage say places servant leaders in the church?

b. How would the roles of these servant leaders be complementary and not contentious?

c.  What examples and exhortations did Jesus give His disciples that makes clear that leaders are to serve and not “lord their authority” over others in the church?

II.  Equipping the Saints (vs. 12)

a.  What purposes does Paul state Christ “made some to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers?”

b.  Who does this passage indicate is being equipped for the work of ministry?

c.  By equipping and making every member of the church a minister of the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ how is greatly is the effective reach of the church expanded?

d. How does 1 Peter 4:10 help us understand the idea of stewardship in using our gifts to minster God’s grace?

III.  Serving Together (vs. 13-16)

a.  How does “unity in the faith and (unity) of the knowledge of the Son of God” ensure we are all pulling together not apart?

            c.  Christ is the head of the church and works individually in and through each of its members. What are we to               understand by the phrases “by what every joint supplies” and “by which every part does it’s share?”

IV.  Application:  What does this passage say the obedient contribution of each member of the church will yield? How does 1 Corinthians 3:5-9 help keep this in proper perspective?
