Amos 9:1-15


I. NO PLACE TO HIDE (vs. 1-4)

a. For those who were complicit in Israel’s sin and thought they could escape the wrath

to come… where can they not hide? _________________________________________

b. What was to happen to the corrupt of Israel? _______________________________ ______________________________________________________________________

c. The end of verse 4 God states, “I will set My eyes on them for harm and not for good”

…How do you reconcile this with God being a God of love? _______________________

d. Because as yet this had not happened would you think Israel would listen and repent? _______________________________________________________________________

 

II. I WILL SIFT THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL (vs. 5-10)

           a. What is the purpose of recounting God’s creative power in verses 5-6? ____________

           b. God is responsible for the people existing when and where they do. Is verse 7 a parallel

           with Acts 17:26? __________________________________________________________

           c. Was the Lord to pour out His wrath with a broad brush or apply it carefully? ________

           d. Would the house of Jacob be utterly lost? ____________________________________

           e. What does it tell us about God when “not the smallest grain will fall to the ground?”

III. A FUTURE HOPE (vs. 11-15)

a. The reference to the “tabernacle of David” means the kingly dynasty. When will this be

accomplished? ____________________________________________________________

b. What specific Gentiles will be part of this kingdom? ____________________________

c. This will be a time of great abundance and prosperity. How can a message of judgment

end with such a vision of hope? ______________________________________________

IV. APPLICATION: The warning continues to sound…Repent and seek the Lord. How many will
