Pastor Tom's June Newsletter 2020

June 2020

Does it feel like we are finally waking up after a bad dream…only it wasn’t a dream. Consider how quickly our everyday lives were stopped cold and we hit a really long pause and every day we were bombarded by bad news and even scarier predictions. Fortunately, the predictions were not accurate but sadly people did get sick and many of the health vulnerable died. Now we are trying to resume life and reengage with society, our own families, and our Church family. I would encourage everyone to proceed with determination and good sense. Avoid those who are sick and if you fall ill stay home. Look out for one another as you did even during the worse of the pandemic and love one another. I was glad President Trump declared places of worship were “essential.” We really did not need anyone to tell us that we already knew it but for those who did not understand this truth we know how to pray for them. It was such a blessing to see the body reunited for corporate worship Sunday, May 24th and I pray we will soon see everyone who is able to return …and meet others who found us during the livestream services.

Hands and Feet Week is the second week of June…the 14th thru the 20th. This is our youth mission week where they spend a week at church and each day go out to do service projects for the elderly and those in need. There are still opportunities to participate if you are a youth in middle or high school or to help with this home mission effort. If you can help prepare meals… there is a spot for you. If you can help chaperone and you have your background check done… there is a spot for you. If you can help donate food items to feed the youth you can do that too! Or if you need help with a project that the youth can do, sign up and let the youth leaders know. The youth will do service projects, have an intensive Bible study / devotions time, worship time, and lots of fun to round out the week!!!

We are gearing up our children’s VBS…July 27-31. There are still opportunities to serve so please get with Jennifer Gosh soon. This is a wonderful outreach opportunity. Even if you are not physically involved please commit to pray for Vacation Bible School.

So how has your personal outreach been going? I still passionately believe that if each of us who are believers will reach out to at least one person for the purpose of sharing the Gospel that God will show us tremendous fruit from that labor of love. Pray for the lost, pray for opportunities to witness, pray for boldness, trust the Holy Spirit, invite them to church, be a friend, and watch what God can do!!!

I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the LORD.” Psalm 122:1
