Pastor Tom's January 2021 Newsletter

January 2021

A New Year and prayerfully a better year. I looked back at my letter from a year ago and several of the things that I had hoped we would see advance were greatly hindered by the onset of the pandemic. Like increased mission opportunities for our folks, more people in Bible studies and seeing more of our local community coming to worship services. Amazingly, even during a pandemic we sent two members on mission to Puerto Rico, sent a team to do repairs on the parsonage at First Baptist Church Valdez, and sent one for Disaster Relief to Louisiana to help with hurricane cleanup and ministry to those affected. Our Bible studies were briefly paused but we found ways to continue online and as soon as we could back in person. And finally, after some weeks of livestream only services we were able to resume in person along with live stream and saw an increase in the number worshiping weekly with FLBC.

As disrupted as our lives have been, we must understand that God is working all things (even the hard things) for good to those who love Him, to those called according to His purpose. That said, we must keep pressing forward, lifting up Jesus, witnessing, sharing the Gospel faithfully, growing in our faith, and doing our part to grow His kingdom. We pray, we endure, we persevere, we strive, we rejoice, we give thanks, we praise, we serve, we love! We are followers of Christ, Children of the King…Christians.

We begin the new year with a call to prayer. The Sanctuary will be open every evening January 1-7 at 6:00pm. for anyone who wants to come and join the church in prayer for the church, individual needs, lost in our families and community etc. etc. etc.!

Philippians 3:12-14 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

God Bless You All,

Pastor Tom
