Pastor Tom's December Newsletter 2019

December 2019

There are lots of things to love about December: time with family and friends, the food, the decorations, the gifts… but especially that we can celebrate the birth of Jesus. He is the greatest love gift that has ever been given.

December can be a bleak, depressing time for some. There are fewer hours of daylight, it is typically colder, and schedules are often crammed. It helps me to take a leisurely stroll through the produce aisle at the grocery store to get a good dose of light and green and then remember that God will begin increasing the daylight right after 21st. You can combat the cold by staying near the fire or wearing a sweater and the busy schedule will work itself out right after 25th. Remember that the most precious thing you can give away this year is you. Your time and attention are worth more than you can imagine. Our experiences together will be remembered long after the gifts are gone. This Christmas season, invest yourself in the relationships that are precious to you and you will have a blessed Christmas.

We welcome Pastor Kyle Sparks to FLBC as our Associate and Worship Pastor. Pastor Kyle will officially be on the job December 1st! Please make him welcome and encourage him as he begins his ministry here. December can be a tough way to start in Alaska so whatever we can do to help Pastor Kyle acclimate to his new church family is greatly encouraged!

December is our emphasis for international missions and we will once again be participating in the Lottie Moon Christmas offering. Every dollar of this offering is used to support our international missionaries.

Linda and I invite our church family to our open house December 6th beginning at 6:00 pm. We have been blessed to have our church family in our home each year at our open house since 1996. There will be plenty of food and good fellowship.

Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

Merry Christmas

Pastor Tom
