Pastor Tom's August Newsletter 2020

August 2020

AUGUST...really? August already? The calendar does not lie, and we need to face the fact that another summer is winding down. We do have so much to be thankful for and I thank God for the beauty and abundance of Alaska.

By August most of our families have experienced a family adventure or two and precious time away together. These experiences are memories to cherish. If you have not taken the time to have a family outing, consider this your two-minute warning. As I write this, we are scheduled for VBS next week (July 27 – 31, so by the time you read this I pray we are rejoicing over all that the Lord has done!)

School will be starting soon and for our families with children busier schedules resume. This year with the pandemic still plaguing the world …and us in Alaska, there are still some uncertainties with the return to school. Be patient, extend love and grace to those trying to make good decisions regarding keeping people safe. I encourage our students to start strong, stick to the course, and finish well. It will be a jolt to resume after such a long break, but everyone is in the same state. Please join me in praying for our children to shine as lights in their world. Parents please stay connected with what your children are learning and take an active role in their education. The Scripture makes it clear that parents bear the greatest responsibility in their children’s education. So, whether you are in the public school, Christian school, or home school make sure you are personally involved in teaching your children.
