Pastor Tom's August Newsletter 2019

August 2019

August is here! What a summer it has been. The sunshine and warm weather were such a break from our normal Alaskan summer…but as Linda has repeatedly told me “we will take it.” The cooler weather returning does make it easier to sleep at night and maybe my lawn will turn green again …someday. I hope the church family has been able to make the most of the good weather and enjoy time together making memories. The time of harvest is upon us so enjoy the fruits of your labor from your gardens or fishing adventures…share with others if you have an abundance and remember to give thanks.

This month we send our students back to school and our college students back to their respective colleges. The academic world is often hostile to Christian beliefs and there are some bent on indoctrinating students to a different world view. Please discuss this with your children and let them know what they are likely to hear and what our Christian response ought to be. Please remember that you are also entering a fertile mission field. Pray for our students and teachers for effective witnessing through their words and actions and by what others see and hear.

Just a reminder to continue to engage those around you with the Gospel. Have you been praying for one person? Don’t get frustrated or give up. Look for opportunities to witness, invite them to church, minister to them in practical ways, or just be a friend. God will use your every effort for His glory.

Acts 4:12 “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
