Pastor Tom's April Newsletter 2020

April 2020

Dear Church Family,

We are certainly in times of great and rapid change. The events worldwide that have developed over the past few months have led to fear and panic among many, but I have seen a different response from God’s people. There is a resolve to do what is needed to protect life and a clear sense that this too shall pass. I am blessed by the love of Christ demonstrated as church family check on one another and look for ways to serve their neighbors in a time of need. We have even been forced to find alternative ways to stay connected for Sunday School and worship, and I’m grateful for those gifted individuals who pulled together the technology to make that happen. While it is always better to be together in person an unexpected blessing has been how many people have been able to join us in both Sunday school and worship from many places even outside Alaska. I see this extended reach of the Gospel continuing and being improved upon even after things return to normal.

As of the writing of this letter our scheduled activities are planned but tentative. We will do what is best to help stop the spread of the virus while praying toward the restoration of our fellowship. Please continue to reach out to family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors and be ready with the word of hope and peace that we have in Christ. Invite them to join the livestream of the worship service or join in one of the online Sunday school classes. I believe God is using this crisis for His glory and some people are beginning to seek God.

The days are getting longer, and the sun has some strength now. We start planting seeds inside in preparation for gardening and outside we see the evidence of Winter turning to Spring. We are reminded that our God is faithful! Our God is in control! Our God is for us!

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6
