Hope, Joy, And Crown Of Rejoicing ~ 1 Thessalonians 2:13-20

I.  THE WORD OF GOD (Verse 13)

a.  What did Paul bring to the Thessalonians Church?

b.  Why is it important that Paul did not bring just encouraging words? (Romans 10:17)

c.  What was Paul’s visit like and how could it have been different?

II. IMITATORS OF THE CHURCHES (verses 14-18)

a.   Why would Paul mention that the Thessalonians were becoming imitators of the churches in Judea? 

b.   What did they have in common? 

c.   By Paul’s statement bout the persecution in Judea, what type of persecution may trouble the Thessalonians?

d.  What did Paul’s forced absence make him want all the more?

e.  Paul states that Satan hindered his return.  Have you ever suspected Satan as hindering something you needed to do?

III. OUR GLORY AND JOY (19-20)

a.  What do the words hope, joy and crown of rejoicing have in common?

b.  What or whom is Paul’s joy?

c.  How do Paul’s comments in vs. 19-20 compare with John’s in 3 John 4?

d.  How would Paul’s comments here make the believers feel?  How would they make you feel?

IV. Application:  Why should people be our primary ministry?  Why must we invest in relationships with others?
