God's Sovereignty ~ Psalm 9:1-20

I.  PRAISE (vs. 1-2)

a. Can one truly praise the LORD with anything less than our whole heart? (Mark 7:6-7)

b. Are verses 1-2 self centered or God centered? Why?

c. What benefit is reaped by confessing the Lord before men? (Mt 10:32)

II. JUDGMENT TO COME (vs. 3-8)

a. What possible hope is there for the unrepentant world?

b. What words here describe how God will judge?

c. When will God “maintain your right and your cause?”

d.  Is God “administering judgment for the people” a good thing?

III. A RIGHTEOUS JUDGE (vs. 9-20)

a. How can verses 9-10 help believers when hard times come?

b. Is it important for me to “know” that God knows my suffering? Why?

c. What role do praising and rejoicing play in our experiencing joy?

d. Who is to blame for the punishment incurred by the wicked?

e. What does David offer as hope for the needy and poor?

f.  What possible benefit could be realized when God puts a nation in

fear?

IV. Application:  Who needs to fear the judgment of the Righteous Judge? Who does not have to be afraid of the Righteous Judge?
