Be Faithful ~ 2 Timothy 1:13-2:7

 

I.  HOLD TIGHT EVEN WHEN OTHERS ARE LETTING GO (vs. 13-18)

a. What does Paul tell Timothy to hold fast?

b. Who does the actual “keeping” in us?

c. Why would Paul tell Timothy that men had turned away from him?

d. Who does Paul say did stand with him?  

         e. Who will need mercy when they stand before the judgment seat of

             Christ?

II. A GOOD SOLDIER OF JESUS CHRIST (vs. 1-3)

a. How does Paul describe Christian strength and from where does it come?

b. What does Paul exhort Timothy to do with what he has learned?... and why?

c. What example does Paul use to instruct Timothy how he is to conduct himself?

         d. Is this also intended for us?

III. UNDERSTANDING IN ALL THINGS (vs. 4-7)

        a. Why does the soldier engaged in warfare not entangle himself in the

            affairs of this life?

       b.  Paul uses Roman-Greco athlete as an example of one who played

            by the rules.  How does this apply to Christians?

       c.  What point is Paul making with the illustration of the farmer?

       d. Who grants us understanding?

IV.  Application:  The issue in today’s study is perseverance.  What will you allow to spiritually side line you?
