I.                I Will Plead Your Case (vs. 36-44)

a.      Connecting to verse 35 whose case is the Lord pleading? _____________

b.      Clues to Babylon’s fall to the Medes and Persians are found in verses 36  

and 39. What are they? ___________________________________________

c.      The final destruction of Babylon is described in verse 42 as “the sea has  

come up over to Babylon”… is it the literal sea or something else? ________

d.      God will destroy the idol Bel and make an end of the idolatry and false

III.            Babylon Shall Sink (vs. 59-64)

a.      Who traveled with Zedekiah to Babylon in the fourth year of Zedekiah’s  

reign over Judah? _______________________________________________

     *Reminder: Zedekiah reigned 11 years (2 Chronicles 36:11)

     b. This means seven years before the fall of Jerusalem to Babylon God has

     already decreed Babylon’s fall and eventual total destruction. Why would

     God send this message to the exiles already in Babylon? ________________
