May 2017

Dear Church Family,

May…warmer longer days, trees beginning to get their leaves, lawns turning green again, and allergy season.  Take the good with the bad and press on…summer is almost here!

Preparations for VBS are now in full swing, if you would like to help out please let Jennifer Gosh know.  The building and grounds committee has a list of things that need repair around the church.  If you have any questions, please call David Suiter.

Our youth auction raised over $3000 for FLBC

youth missions that will enable our young people to participate

in missions here and elsewhere in the state.  One of the activities

this summer will be the third annual local mission opportunity called,

“Hands and Feet Week” July 9-14.  If you have a service project that

they may be able to do or know of a senior citizen that needs

a helping hand please let Pastor Peter know so we can schedule

the project.  Additionally, please pray for the other mission

opportunities that our young people will serve on Kodiak Island.

We are almost to $400,000.00 in our building fund to finish

the education wing of our new facility.  That leaves @ 100,000.00 to

raise by next summer.  At the April church council, we determined that

summer of 2018 we should be able to build. There are a lot of logistics

that need to take place this year in order to be ready to build next

summer.  We want to be certain we will have enough to complete

when we start.  We need to line up the volunteers that will come and

help us, we need to have our plans reviewed and get the needed permits

etc. etc. etc…. Please pray always, and serve enthusiastically where you

can, and give as you are led.  God has shown He is able and we are

all recipients of His blessing let us be faithful to see this completed.

Completing the facility is an important goal in the life of our church

but not at the expense of our mission endeavors and local ministries.

With God’s help we will finish the one while fully doing the other!

With Summer coming I remind our church family to take time

to spend with your family to travel, sightsee, fish, camp, hike, enjoy

God’s creation and if you need to be gone a weekend to do it …don’t feel

guilty but please don’t make it every weekend.  We as Christians need

to meet regularly to worship, study, to encourage and be encouraged.

Galatians 6:9  And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
