Doctrine: Man Lost And Found ~ Genesis 1:24-31

I.  Created in the Image of God (Genesis 1:26-27)

a. What two words specifically does the Scripture use to describe how we differ from the rest of God’s created creatures?  

b. How does Genesis 5:3 in using image and likeness of Adam and  Seth help us see a clearer picture of what these words mean?

c. Although not exhaustive what ways are we like the Creator?

d. In creating us male and female are we all created in His image and likeness?

II.  Fallen (Genesis 3:1-24)

a. Was Adam and Eve’s sin just a mistake or willful rebellion?

b. How does Romans 6:23 stand as truth both in the Garden of Eden and now?

c. How is the ‘image’ marred because of sin and is there any way to undo the damage?                                                                                                       

III. Redeemed (Colossians 1:19-23)

a.  Colossians 1:19 speak of things which pleased the Father and notes first that the ‘all the fullness should dwell in Christ’... what else pleased the Father?

b. How was Christ able to reconcile the love and justice of the Father?  

c. What amazing description is made in vs. 22 of the redeemed?

d. For those who are redeemed has the marred image been restored to its original state or is it even better now?

IV.  Application:   Are individuals condemned on the basis of Adam’s original sin or are we held accountable for our own sin (Ezekiel 18:1-4)?
