Jeremiah 48:1-28

 

I.                Woe to Moab (vs. 1-10)

*Moab descended from Lot and dwelt east of the Dead Sea.  Here they fall under God’s punishment at the hands of the Babylonians / Chaldeans around 588-586 B.C.

a. Many of the cities of Moab listed in this passage have been forgotten by history…what does this say about the effectiveness of the Lord’s judgment against Moab? __________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

b. What does verse 7 say about where Moab had placed her trust? ­_________________________________________________________

II.              Moab is Plundered (vs. 11-25)

a. Vs. 11. Using wine production language Moab is described as unrefined or unpurified with the dregs remaining resulting in an unchanged state. b. Moab would be ashamed of their false god Chemosh as Israel was made to    be of Bethel (1 Kings 12:28-29, Hosea 8:4-6).  What is the connection? ___________________________________________________________________________________________________

III.       He Exalted Himself Against the Lord (vs. 26-28)
