June '10

Dear Church Family,

Summer is here. Our world has once again turned green and God has been faithful to mark the cadence of time by the changing of the seasons. He is so good!

We are in the process of gearing up for our children’s VBS. This is a wonderful outreach opportunity. There is still time to get involved please see Betty. Even if you cannot physically be involved please commit to pray for our vacation Bible School.

Our church picnic is June 6th at 4 PM. This is time to fellowship and get to know one another better, so invite friends and neighbors. The grills will be hot, please bring something to grill and a potluck dish and come out for a great time. There is a cowboy theme this year to launch our Saddle Ridge VBS; wear your cowboy or cowgirl outfits and come for a great time of fellowship.

It seems that all the world is falling apart…an oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico, large earthquakes in various places, political upheaval, financial crisis around the world, people out of work, the United States locked in divisive struggle between holding to traditional Christian values or pushing a fundamental transformation to become a godless secular nation like all the other nations. These are not new problems, history reveals that there have always been natural calamities, political and financial crisis, and even the push to remove God from a national identity. In 1 Samuel 8:19-20 Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, "No, but we will have a king over us, that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles."

Our job is to steadfastly stand on the Lord’s side and to know that the Lord is in control. Stand with one another, help one another, and set our hearts to seek the Lord and remember. As written in Isaiah 51:1 "Listen to Me, you who follow after righteousness, You who seek the LORD: Look to the rock from which you were hewn, And to the hole of the pit from which you were dug.
